What is IP whitelisting, and do I have to whitelist IP addresses?

IP whitelisting ensures trades can only be executed through Cryptohopper's servers. It's mandatory for almost all exchanges.

IP whitelisting is a security feature that restricts API access to specific IP addresses. When you whitelist Cryptohopper's IP addresses on your exchange, only Cryptohopper's servers can execute trades through your API key. This prevents unauthorized access to your exchange account.

Do I have to set up IP whitelisting?

Yes, for almost all crypto exchanges on Cryptohopper, IP whitelisting is mandatory. You should always set it up when your exchange supports it. Learn how to whitelist IP addresses for your API keys in our exchange connection tutorials.

IP whitelisting in the Troubleshooter

If you use the Troubleshooter to check that your bot is working correctly, you will always see a warning about IP whitelisting. This appears even when you've already configured your IP addresses in your API keys. The reason for this is that Cryptohopper can't check on the exchange which IP addresses have been used exactly. You can safely ignore this warning if you've already added Cryptohopper's IP addresses during setup.
