When setting up API keys for your exchange account, you may encounter several common issues. Before troubleshooting, remember that for many exchanges, we offer Fast connect as an alternative. Fast connect is significantly easier and quicker than creating API keys. Click here to see all exchanges compatible with Fast connect.
Most Common Issues
1. Incorrect Permissions
One of the most critical factors is ensuring you've enabled all required permissions. Each exchange has specific permission requirements, which you can find in our dedicated exchange instructions. Missing even a single required permission will prevent your API keys from working properly.
2. Password Managers or Browser Extensions Interference
Some password managers or browser extensions may block or alter the copy-paste function. This can result in incorrectly copied API keys when transferring them to Cryptohopper. To troubleshoot this issue:
Try using an incognito/private browsing window
Temporarily disable browser extensions
Manually type the keys (if feasible)
3. Insufficient Funds in Exchange Account
For certain exchanges, connecting to your Cryptohopper account requires having funds in your exchange account. If you receive an error, verify that:
You have funds available on your exchange
The funds are in your trading or spot wallet (not in staking, savings, or other specialized wallets)
4. Incomplete KYC Verification
Some exchanges require completed Know Your Customer (KYC) verification before API functionality works correctly. If you're experiencing issues, check your verification status on your exchange and complete any outstanding verification steps.
