The technical indicators available through Cryptohopper's Strategy Designer may differ from those on TradingView. This guide explains how to compare the indicators.
How to Compare Indicators
Follow these steps to compare an indicator between TradingView and Cryptohopper:
Add the indicator to TradingView Add your chosen indicator to TradingView. We'll use the CCI (Commodity Channel Index) indicator as an example.
Check indicator settings in TradingView Verify all input settings by clicking on the settings wheel for the indicator. Note that TradingView indicators may have additional settings not available in Cryptohopper, such as the "Source" option for CCI.
Note the indicator value Check the latest indicator value displayed on TradingView (visible in the bottom left corner, often highlighted in blue). In our example it's 46.94. Usually, the source is set to Close if no input for the Source is provided on Cryptohopper.
Compare with Cryptohopper To check the same indicator in Cryptohopper:
Click on "Test"
Select the appropriate exchange
Click on "Quick check"
Compare the resulting value with the one from TradingView. In our exmaple the indicators are not the same.
Important considerations
If values differ, the indicators are likely not implementing the same calculation method.
In some cases, adjusting settings (like changing the "Source" to "hlc3" for CCI in TradingView) might result in matching values.
A single match could be coincidental. To make sure it's the same:
Test multiple coins/pairs
Check different timeframes
Only if all tests consistently match can you conclude the indicators are functionally equivalent
