Why do I see gaps in charts?

Gaps in charts are caused by an inactive browser tab, multiple open Cryptohopper tabs, or exchange maintenance. Refresh the page or close extra tabs to fix it.

Gaps in your trading charts mean there is missing price data between two time periods. For example, on a 30-minute BTC/USDT chart, the data might jump from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM with no candles in between.

Why does this happen?

There are three common causes:

  • Inactive browser tab — Your Cryptohopper tab was open but not visible for a while, so price data stopped updating.

  • Multiple Cryptohopper tabs — Having more than one Cryptohopper tab open at the same time is not supported and can cause data gaps.

  • Exchange maintenance — Your exchange may have been temporarily down for maintenance, so no price data was available during that period.

What to do

  1. Close all extra Cryptohopper tabs so only one remains open.

  2. Refresh the page using Ctrl + F5 (or click the refresh icon next to the URL bar).

  3. If gaps persist, check your exchange's status page to see if maintenance is in progress. Price data will resume automatically once maintenance is complete.

Cryptohopper vs. TradingView charts

Cryptohopper and TradingView display periods without trades differently. TradingView skips those periods entirely (no candle is shown), while Cryptohopper shows a dash to keep the timeline continuous. This is normal behavior and not a sign of missing data.
