Your trading bot requires the quote currency to be available in your exchange account or paper account before it can execute buy orders. Without the quote currency, the bot cannot purchase other cryptocurrencies.
How quote currency works
Your bot uses the quote currency as the base for all trading operations:
Buying: The bot uses your quote currency (e.g., USD, USDT, BTC) to purchase other cryptocurrencies
Selling: When the bot sells a position, it converts the funds back into your quote currency
Goal: The goal is to increase the total amount of your quote currency
Example:
If your quote currency is USD:
The bot uses USD to buy cryptocurrencies like Ethereum or Bitcoin
When your bot settings trigger a sell, it converts Ethereum or Bitcoin back into USD
Your USD balance grows over time through successful trades
Important: If your bot triggers a buy signal but you don't have the quote currency available in your exchange account or paper account, the bot cannot execute the trade. Like the example below. Even if you have multiple other cryptocurrencies in your portfolio, the bot specifically needs the selected quote currency to make purchases.
How to set your quote currency
You can select your quote currency in your base config under "Coins and Amounts." For more information on which quote currency to choose, see this article.
